Actor Casey Affleck is being sued for sexual harassment by one of the producers on his documentary about brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix’s foray into the hip-hop world.
Producer Amanda White claims Affleck made “uninvited and unwelcome sexual advances” while making the doco, I’m Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix, so she’s suing the him for a cool $2 million.
In the lawsuit filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, White claims Affleck repeatedly referred to women as “cows” and “discussed his sexual exploits and those of other celebrities that he allegedly witnessed; and asked [White], after learning her age, ‘Isn’t it about time you get pregnant?’” according to the suit.
White claims Affleck became “hostile and aggressive” when she rejected his advances and “violently grabbed her arm in an effort to intimidate her into staying.”
In her 19-page complaint, White further alleges that he hired prostitutes and transvestites for a scene in a hotel room. She claims that Affleck employed the hookers “for his personal gratification,” because none of the material made it into the final cut of the doco.
Responding to the lawsuit, Affleck’s legal muscle said:
“The allegations brought upon our clients are preposterous and without merit. Ms. White was terminated from the production over a year ago. She and her lawyers believe that this maliciously and erroneously filed complaint will cause the producers to succumb to her outrageous and baseless demands. She is mistaken. The complaint will be vigorously defended and cross-claims will be filed against her.”
White is asking for at least $2 million in damages, breach of oral contract, emotional distress and $50,000 she claims Affleck owes her for her work on the doco.
